INVINCIBLE® and Vans return for their second collaboration, Off The Rhyme, featuring the Old Skool and SK8-Mid silhouettes. The collection is inspired by rhythm, movement, and the evolution of skate-worn shoes.
The project draws on Vans’ iconic Jazz Stripe, reinterpreted across the silhouettes as a line of motion and rhythm. Continuing the design direction of the first release, the collection emphasizes deconstruction and double-layer construction. Inspired by skaters grinding against grip tape and pavement, new layers emerge over time, reflecting the natural wear of a skate-worn shoe.
The upper overlay features splatter graphics, with left and right shoes carrying different patterns. This mirrored yet non-identical layout introduces variation and movement, inspired by the free-flowing spirit of jazz. The underlay reveals Vans’ classic checkerboard pattern, transforming one of the brand’s most recognizable visuals into a structural element. Wear and abrasion gradually expose the checkerboard, highlighting the layered construction of the shoes.
